New Book Shop

Thursday, September 17th 2009

Where have I been? I have been busy working for Thomas Gunn and having beach parties. Not at the same time though.

The project that has been keeping us busy is The Book Shop Online. This is an online book shop which has over 1 million products.

The prices are very competitive compared to other online book shops (not mentioning any South American Rivers here) so why not have a look?

We have submitted our stock to Google Products too.

Cheers.

Freelance takes over

Tuesday, September 2nd

As you can see, I do not update this site much. My day job keeps me busy enough, on top of that I have a few personal websites to keep track of.

However, over the past few months I have tried to land more freelance work. Sites like rentacoder are ideal for me. They put me in touch with lots of people (buyers) who need freelance programming done.

The cherry on the cake is I also just completed a website for a client in New Mexico. Based on how well that went I am in the running for a further three websites. Bonus.

So, I may not be around for a while but I will try to post the odd thing or two.

An update of sorts

Tuesday, September 2nd

Hello there. Where have I been? I have been here and there. Before I begin, look what google has been upto.

What have I been upto? Well for one I have developed a tool called CSSCheck which will be available sometime this week. CSSCheck is a CSS validation tool, notably it looks at all your background-image statements and tells you if all linked images exist.

Furthermore, this tool can scan a webpage too, so you can check other people's websites and let them know if any images are missing if you so wish.

Stay tuned for more.

CSS and JavaScript form validation

Monday, June 2nd

This is pretty cool. It uses two appropriate CSS classes to represent form fields that are filled in correctly (blue text) and those that are filled in incorrectly (red text).

There are 5 modes to this script. You can have the script validate:

  • All fields
  • First field
  • Last field
  • A specific field
  • No fields

That is set in the HTML <form> tag of your HTML Document.

View demo, Comments welcome.

How to use JavaScript for site-wide navigation

Thursday, March 20th

My latest script was inspired by a discussion on a forum I visit.

The idea behind it is: how do you use an external .js file over multiple pages? Lets say for a menu, instead of hand coding it into every page, you can use a .js file to do that for you.

Sport Relief

Monday, March 17th

I did it, I ran 3 miles in aid of Sport Relief and raised an almost respectable £119.50.

There was a fairly large turnout and there was only a little bit of rain!

I will do it again. Thanks for everyone who donated.
